Bob's Pick: '2666' by Roberto Bolano
Book editor Bob Hoover's selection of the week
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Roberto Bolano has been dead for five years, but he left a substantial monument to himself with the novels "The Savage Detectives" and now "2666" (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, $30).

It's not for the faint of heart, 893 pages of complicated prose written in a style unfamiliar to American readers. Invest the time.
