Thursday, December 04, 2008

An Aliquippa man was killed yesterday morning when his car crashed into a garbage truck in Center Township.

The driver, Robert Bruce Morgan, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:50 a.m. accident, said Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi.

Center Police Chief Barry Kramer said Mr. Morgan was traveling south on Old Broadhead Road near the campus of Penn State Beaver when he crashed.

Witnesses told police Mr. Morgan had been seen driving erratically in the moments before the collision with the rear of the garbage truck operated by Waste Management Inc.

The truck was stopped in the 1600 block of Old Broadhead Road, Chief Kramer said.

None of the refuse workers was injured, and Mr. Morgan was alone in the car.

An autopsy is scheduled, and police will await toxicology tests to help determine the cause of the accident.
