The award ceremony to honor the local winners of the 2009 Jefferson Awards for Public Service has been rescheduled for April 21 at the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History, Oakland.
The original event was postponed from Feb. 11 because of the heavy snows. All 50 winners -- who have been nominated by people or organizations in the community -- will receive special medals.
Also at this ceremony, the winner of the Most Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award will be announced. Seven finalists are vying for this award.
The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Music Hall.
The Jefferson Award program is administered locally by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette with sponsorship by Highmark, the Pittsburgh Foundation and the Heinz Endowments.
