U.S. Route 30 will be closed in both directions this weekend near the Greensburg Pike overpass in North Versailles.

The closure, from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, is necessary for safety as crews remove concrete from the bridge that crosses over Route 30, said Jim Struzzi, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The bridge closed Monday for a $4.5 million replacement project, which is expected to be completed in November.
The posted detour for eastbound traffic is left on Warren Drive, right on Greensburg Pike and bear left onto the ramp to Route 30. Westbound motorists also will use Greensburg Pike and Warren Drive.
The same closure and detour of Route 30 is tentatively scheduled for the following weekend, Mr. Struzzi said.
Highwood Avenue will remain open to local traffic.
The project includes removing the existing 79-year-old steel bridge and replacing it with a new single span composite steel multi-girder bridge. Approaches will be paved, guide rail repaired, and minor drainage upgrades and other improvements will be made. Gulisek Construction Co. of Mount Pleasant is the contractor.
